Blueberry Crepes - Breakfast at Wiscasset Woods
This recipe was developed as our Christmas morning breakfast. The crepe recipe comes from Fanny Farmer’s cookbook and the cheese filling is adapted from Dana Moos’ The Art of Breakfast cookbook. Batter 2 eggs 1 cup milk ½  tsp salt 1 cup flour 2 Tbs butter (melted) Cheese Filling 4 ounces softened cream cheese ½ pint cottage cheese ½ cup granulated sugar 1 tsp vanilla Fruit 1 cup thawed/drained blueberries (peaches also work well in the crepes) Instructions Make the batter. Beat all the wet

2018 Events at the Wiscasset Waterville & Farmington Railway
If you love railroads you'll love The WW&F Railway Museum. They are rebuilding the Wiscasset, Waterville, and Farmington (WW&F) Railway and have many opportunities for volunteers to help out. They’ve already restored 2.6 miles of railroad, rebuilt an original WW&F steam locomotive, and restored several railroad cars. The railway was a two-foot “narrow” gauge railroad that operated from 1894 until 1933.  The line ran from Wiscasset to Winslow Maine, never making it to either Waterville or

    The Fire at Forrest Inn
When I contacted the Wiscasset Newspaper to find a photo of the Forrest Inn for my History of Wiscasset Woods Lodge page they were able to dig up an article their paper wrote when the inn burned down in 1975. Most of the history I've received up to now has been oral, told to me by neighbors, staff of the Forrest Inn and past owners of our lodge. This article challenges some of what I've learned and will require a rewrite of our lodge's history. According to this article the inn was built in
  5. Amish Oatmeal

    Amish Oatmeal
Amish-Style Baked Oatmeal I’m afraid I’ve lost the origin of this recipe which I regret as it’s become a crowd favorite. The oats aren’t mushy, they retain their texture and then there are all the wonderful flavors and textures of the nuts, apples and raisins. We adjust this recipe depending on what we have on hand and what other items we’re serving for breakfast. There’s lots of room for additions/substitutions/deletions depending on what you like and what you have on hand. The only really
  6. Wiscasset Woods Lodge - The longest continually operated lodging between Bath and Rockland Maine

Wiscasset Woods Lodge - The longest continually operated lodging between Bath and Rockland Maine
From the research we’ve done, it appears that we are the oldest, continuously operating lodging facility between Bath and Rockland Maine. There has been some form lodging on our property since the Oxhorn Inn was built sometime in the 1870’s. The Oxhorn Inn got its name from the adjacent road, Oxhorn Lane. The lane was named after the ox horns hanging in a tree to mark the entrance to the road. The inn had around 6 rooms upstairs and a restaurant and dance floor on the ground floor. When the inn

    Monkey Bread
This is a new favorite recipe with our guests. It's so easy to make you'll have to try it yourself. We adapted this from a recipe for Pillsbury Grand biscuits but we use pizza dough instead of biscuit dough which I think makes it taste a lot better. We buy our pizza dough at the grocery store in the deli section. If it's frozen keep it in the fridge overnight to thaw. Ingredients 1 pizza dough ball 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 cup butter
