One my favorite lighthouses and one of the few you can go up inside of. There are also dramatic rocks down to the ocean with tide pools to explore (31 miles)
A state park with two stretches of beach, hiking trails, a lagoon area, and picnic tables in a rocky wooded area. A great way to spend a day. (20 miles)
A state park with miles of beach ever changing beach. Visitors can walk out to Fox Island at low tide. Watching the tide rise and cover the causeway is fascinating too. (23 miles)
Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens
One of the top 5 botanical gardens in the US. Over 295 tidal acres you’ll find rose gardens, ponds, a children’s garden and much more. They also have their famous Gardens Aglow light display in Nov. and Dec. (16 miles)
Great museum on the history of boat building in Maine. Take a tour boat down the Kennebec River to learn about different river lighthouses. The statue of a 6 masted schooner is the largest outdoor sculpture in New England. (9 miles)
Wiscasset Waterville and Farmington Railway
Museum dedicated to rebuilding an historic narrow gauge railway. The offer steam engine rides, a round house, historic bridge, and rebuilt steam engines. (8 miles)
Classic roadside lobster shack. Nationally famous for their lobster rolls. They’ve been featured on numerous television shows and magazines. (3 miles)
Wiscasset is home to several historic sites including the 1812 Jail, Nickels-Sortwell House and Castle Tucker. It also has a Museum on the Streets walking tour. (3 miles)
Midcoast Maine’s largest flea market open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you’re interested in antiques, consider visiting Wednesday morning which is antiques day. (2 miles)
Fun ropes course and ziplines for the whole family. There are three levels of challenges for big kids and a small course for little kids. There’s also a zipline through the woods. (1 mile)
A breakwater built to protect the Rockland harbor, the causeway it juts out 3/4 of a mile into the bay. The lighthouse built at the end to keep boats from running around on the causeway is a great place to stop and rest. The lighthouse itself is not open to the public. (39 miles)
Located near Rockland, there’s a lovely trail through the woods to reach the lighthouse with waves crashing on the cliff below. This is another lighthouse you can tour – check to see if tours are allowed this year. (59 miles)
Owls Head Transportation Museum
The museum’s mission is to collect, preserve, exhibit and operate pre-1940 aircraft, ground vehicles, engines and related technologies and the evolution of transportation. (43 miles)
LL Bean was started in Freeport, Maine. Their flagship store is actually an entire campus with one store dedicated to outdoor equipment, one to clothing and one to homegoods. There’s also a manmade waterfall, benches, and special events. (25 miles)
